CFIA: Allergy Alert-Undeclared Milk Protein In Wilton Dark Cocoa Candy Melts

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) and Wilton Industries Canada Company are warning people with allergies to milk protein not to consume Wilton Dark Cocoa Candy Melts. The affected product may contain milk protein which is not declared on the label.

The affected product, Wilton Dark Cocoa Candy Melts, a product of the United States, is sold in 397 g plastic bags bearing UPC 0 70896 01965 3. The bags contain candy melts in the shape of circular discs. This product has been distributed nationally.

There have been three reported allergic reactions associated with the consumption of this product.

Consumption of this product may cause a serious or life-threatening reaction in persons with allergies to milk protein.

The distributor, Wilton Industries Canada Company, Etobicoke, Ontario is voluntarily recalling the affected product from the marketplace. The CFIA is monitoring the effectiveness of the recall.
