"CG Whiz" 2010: Winner Revealed

Stu Schwartz Named First US-Based Winner of Escape Studios' Annual Competition to Find Future Stars of Computer Graphics Industry

LOS ANGELES, CA--(Marketwire - December 14, 2010) - Today Escape Studios, one of the most successful and well-respected CG academies in the world, is delighted to announce the winner of "CG Whiz" -- its annual competition aimed at uncovering future stars of the CG industry.

Stu Schwartz, hailing from the United States, was named the winner at the awards event held Thursday night at Escape Studios' headquarters in London. His show reel demonstrated great creative potential, exceptional talent, and can be viewed here. Schwartz wins a 12-week visual effects (VFX) classroom course at Escape Studios' brand new academy in Los Angeles, followed by a four-week placement at The Mill, and a one-year subscription to CGSociety.

Second place was awarded to Justyna Galka from Poland for her innovative showreel, while third place went to the UK's Natalie Rocks for her charming animated film. Both win a selection of Escape Studios' mentored and online courses.

"We were hugely impressed with the standard of entries this year, and a lot of people caught our eye around the world," said Dominic Davenport, CEO and founder of Escape Studios. "In the end, Stu's entry shone through with its combination of raw talent and potential. We feel that he's someone who'll benefit from working with us and at The Mill, hopefully going on to build a career in the industry. We're also pleased that he'll be joining us at our brand new campus in LA, which demonstrates how our continued growth allows us to help more potential CG artists across the world."

"I'm so pleased to have won CG Whiz 2010 and I can't wait to start Escape Studios' classroom course and learn from some of the best CG tutors in the industry," said winner Stu Schwartz. "This is a one of a kind competition, and I aim to make the most of the chances I get with Escape and The Mill to help my career progress in an industry renowned for being difficult to get into."

Ben Hampshire, MD at The Mill LA, added: "We are really pleased to be part of CG Whiz for the second year running. The entries this year were of an incredibly high standard and demonstrated great, amateur CG talent worldwide. At The Mill we are delighted to offer real opportunities to people like Stu and help him grow professionally as a visual effects artist."
