CGI Launches Defence and Intelligence Unit to Provide Canada With Leading Edge Solutions and Global Capabilities

$1 billion acquisition of Stanley laid the foundation for further expansion

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Sept. 29, 2011) - CGI Group Inc. (TSX:GIB.A)(NYSE:GIB), a leading provider of information technology and business process services, today announced the opening of a new Canadian Defence, Public Safety and Intelligence business unit based in Ottawa with capabilities to serve the Canadian Armed Forces around the globe.

In addition, the Company also announced the appointment of Lieutenant General Andrew Leslie to lead the new Defence, Public Safety and Intelligence unit. The offering will build on the corporation's global expertise to develop and implement innovative, world-class solutions tailored to specific knowledge and requirements of Canada's modern-day defence and security challenges.

After a distinguished career serving Canada's Armed Forces for over 30 years, as former Chief of the Land Staff and, more recently, Chief of Transformation Lt.-Gen. Leslie retired from the military in early September 2011. An expert in risk management and strategic planning, Lt.-Gen. Leslie is well known for leading global missions, including NATO combat operations.

Recipient of several prestigious awards and decorations, Lt.-Gen. Leslie has been awarded both the Meritorious Service Medal and Cross, as well as the Commander of the U.S. Legion of Merit for his leadership in Afghanistan. He recently tabled a Transformation Report commissioned by the Ministry of National Defence, which makes more than 40 recommendations to efficiently transform Canada's Armed Forces to better prepare for tomorrow's challenges.
