CGOC Presents Vigilant, LLC's Tom Lahiff on "A Future Look into the Legal Landscape"

MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA--(Marketwire - Jun 27, 2011) - CGOC, a practitioners' forum convening legal, IT and RIM professionals to share current and best practices in discovery, information governance, privacy and data management, today announced a new webinar, "A Future Look into the Legal Landscape," with Tom Lahiff, general counsel at Vigilant, LLC. The webinar, ideal for legal and RIM staff members, will be presented on June 29, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. PDT.

Highlighting the fact that the combination of privacy obligations and eDiscovery burdens are not just EU issues but material legal and financial risks in the US, Tom Lahiff, GC at Vigilant, LLC, will offer a future look into the legal landscape of privacy and eDiscovery, including federal legislation proposed by Senators Kerry and McCain, and the potential impact of a new Senate committee chaired by Senator Franken with jurisdiction over the privacy implications of new or emerging technologies. The webinar will also cover the major milestone cases (Harkabi, Pension Committee, Rimkus Consulting, and Victor Stanley II), discuss the imposition of creative sanctions for discovery violations, and offer lessons learned to mitigate risks.
