Invitation-Only Conference Slated for April 22-23, 2014, in Austin, Texas

AUSTIN, TX--(Marketwired - April 09, 2014) - CGOC (Compliance, Governance & Oversight Council), a practitioners' forum focused on developing information lifecycle governance practices that improve information economics, today announced the 10th annual CGOC Summit 2014, "Information at Work: Reducing Data Cost & Risk." A must-attend event for information professionals, this invitation-only conference will take place April 22-23, 2014, at the Hyatt Lost Pines Resort in Austin, Texas.

Designed for data compliance and governance executives, the 2014 CGOC Summit will feature compliance and governance experts and thought leaders from Morgan Stanley, Comerica, Xerox, UBS, Deloitte and many more, as well as the Hon. Kristen L. Mix . This year's conference will include a focus on engaging with stakeholders and measuring progress, considerations for cloud, BYOD and social media initiatives, gaining a strategic view of identifying data value, and other important trends. Packed with more than a dozen valuable sessions, the conference features keynote sessions on both days: "The Journey to Information Governance," by Joe Steffan, chief privacy compliance officer at Morgan Stanley, on April 22, and "Mock Trials: Motion to Compel and Motion to Quash SDT," conducted by the Hon. Kristen L. Mix, magistrate for the U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado, on April 23.

Specifically designed in response to a survey of CGOC community members, the conference will include sessions on topics such as:

- A strategic approach to implementing an information governance program and demonstrating organizational value

- Methods to ensure the cost of capturing and storing information never exceeds the value it provides to a business

- How to address and clean legacy data and classify it for retention, archival and disposition

- Governance considerations for emerging technology initiatives such as cloud, BYOD and social media

"The 2014 CGOC Summit represents a rare opportunity for information professionals to interact with some of the world's leading practitioners in the area of data compliance and governance," said Derek Gascon, CGOC executive director. "The complexity of the regulatory environment continues to increase along with more threats to security and privacy, which is introducing greater risk throughout the enterprise. CGOC serves as a valuable source of insights, research and programs, enabling corporate executives to help their organizations reduce risk, control costs and prepare for new uses of information in the coming years."
