Chaffey College Community Education Department to Hold Its Second Annual She 4 Me Leadership Conference for Girls

CHINO, CA--(Marketwire - February 20, 2009) - Chaffey College Community Education Department will hold its Second Annual 'She 4 Me' Wellness, Leadership, and Technology Conference on Saturday, April 25, 2009 from 8:30am - 2:00pm at the Chino Main Instructional Building.

The She 4 Me Wellness, Leadership, and Technology Conference is a mentoring event for young ladies ages 8-18 with the goal of bringing together women and girls of diverse backgrounds to inspire future community leaders and encourage scholarship in the sciences.

"We are really proud of the She 4 Me Conference," Tiffany Buch with Chaffey College said. "We heard great feedback from the young women at last year's event and we are thrilled about growing this year's event. We are excited to have it on the new Chaffey campus in Chino."

The event will feature fun and informative workshops designed to encourage young women in the areas of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics -- the STEM subjects. Workshops will be presented by Zumba Fitness Style in Chino, MESA, and Chaffey College's Fashion and Design Department, among others. Last year, the young ladies participated in a science activity and mixed their own lip gloss. The day will start with a continental breakfast at 8:00am and an inspiring keynote message from Karen Sanders, a supervisor of Student Services at Chaffey College. A catered lunch will also be provided with a message being delivered by Dr. Pam Clute, Executive Director for the Alpha Center and a lecturer in mathematics and education at the University of California Riverside.

"We are preparing to welcome 300 enthusiastic young ladies," Karen Childers with Chaffey College said. "The conference will be a day of learning, fun, and enlightenment for the girls in our community."

Registration for the She 4 Me Conference is $25.00 and includes registration for a student and parent/guardian, continental breakfast, the workshops, and lunch. Registration continues through April 17th at www.chaffey.edu/econ_dev/women or by calling (909)652-7771. Early bird registration is encouraged before April 8th for an early bird drawing.
