'Champagne in the City'

LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM--(CCNMatthews - April 3, 2006) -

'Champagne in the City'
Monthly Champagne Tastings at Jamies Restaurant
107 - 112 Leadenhall St, EC3A 4AA

The Wine & Food Academy is launching a series of Champagne tastings in the heart of the City held monthly on Wednesday nights.

Situated 'upstairs at Jamies Bar' in Leadenhall Street-just round the corner from the Lloyds Building. Excellent venue within easy reach of most City workers! Some great Champagnes on show from all the major Champagne houses with premier cru, grand cru and vintage too.

There will be the opportunity to taste 6 spectacular Champagnes every month.
The host for each evening will be Chris Hambleton the Wine & Food Academy's
expert on Champagne. Chris says:

"This is the first regular champagne & food tasting held in the City which everyone can attend. The point is to show people that Champagne is not just a drink for birthdays and New Year, but a great choice on a normal weekday. There's a different Champagne style to suit every palate and Champagne is also an excellent food wine, something that people tend to forget. Trust me, there's nothing like a few glasses of champagne on a random Wednesday evening! "

First Dates: Wednesday 3 May & Wednesday 7 June at 7.00-9.00.

The cost is GBP 69.00 per person which includes supper as well.

A great opportunity to entertain clients, fix an office outing or just come along for an evening out.

Editor's Information follows

The Wine and Food Academy was established to further enhance the understanding of wine. Students can learn about grape varieties & characteristics; how to cook and match food to wine; and gain a UK Government recognised qualification (NVQ levels 2 and 3). The Wine & Food Academy does things differently by letting guests talk about wines in their own style, helping them to develop their own taste buds and giving them the confidence to talk about wines in a non-pretentious and entertaining way.

Through the Academy's evening classes (Harmonising Wines & Foods & Know Your Wine) guests learn all the basic foundations of wine tasting, right through how to distinguish grape, region and vintage, but learning in a fun and exciting fashion. Guests are served several different wines each evening, including a full supper as the whole idea of the class is to taste how wine harmonises with different foods. All dietary requirements are taken care of.

Taste great wines, eat fine foods and socialise in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.
