Champlain Resources Inc. Announces Hiring of Vice President, Land, Negotiations for the Acquisition of 15,000 Additional Acres of Marcellus Shale Gas Leases and Opening of Pennsylvania Field Office

CALGARY, AB--(Marketwire - June 12, 2008) - Champlain Resources Inc. (TSX-V: CPL.H) ("Champlain" or the "Corporation"), listed on the NEX board of the TSX Venture Exchange under the trading symbol "CPL.H", is pleased to welcome Thomas P. Lonero, as Vice President, Land for Champlain. Thomas Lonero, of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, brings to Champlain over 13 years experience in the field as well as a variety of professional memberships including: American Association of Professional Landmen (Michael Late Benedum Chapter) (AAPL), International Right of Way Association (Past Member) and the Pennsylvania Association of Notaries. "I am very happy that Champlain has secured Thomas Lonero as our V.P. Land. To add an individual of Mr. Lonero's caliber to our management team is an accomplishment," says Troy Mochoruk, Chairman & CEO of Champlain. "Thomas has already positioned Champlain to continue negotiating on an additional 15,000 acres in the Marcellus shale corridor, bringing Champlain's prospective Marcellus shale leases to approximately 25,000 acres."

Mr. Lonero's experience has included land acquisition and abstractors' services to several large companies including Chesapeake Energy, TriEnergy, and Discovery, leasing thousands of acres in the Appalachian Basin. Mr. Lonero has completed several challenging projects, including some of the hardest areas to title in West Virginia and Pennsylvania.

Mr. Lonero brings with him an additional team member, Andy McCullough. Mr. McCullough will be joining Champlain as a senior landman, and has extensive experience working in the Appalachian Basin, leasing over 100,000 acres.

Champlain further announces that Mr. Mochoruk was invited to attend a landowner meeting on Tuesday, June 9, 2008, in Latrobe, Pennsylvania. This landowner meeting was sponsored by Penn State University Cooperative to educate and introduce landowners to oil and gas companies wanting to acquire additional lands in Pennsylvania.

Through this process, Champlain has been requested by a group of landowners to negotiate on approximately 15,000 acres of land in south central Pennsylvania that Champlain believes to be prospective for the Marcellus shale. Champlain will be meeting with all landowners in the coming days to finalize details of these leases. Once finalized, details will be released.

Mr. Mochoruk also explains that, "Champlain will be opening a field office in Mt. Lebanon, Pennsylvania, a suburb of Pittsburgh, to direct our operations in Pennsylvania. The importance of the Marcellus shale as a long term gas supply to the United States and North America is gaining wide and significant acceptance. We want Champlain to be on the ground and poised to take advantage of the significant area of energy exploration and development."
