OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - June 26, 2012) - After two years as the Commandant of the Canadian Forces Support Unit (Ottawa) (CFSU(O)), Commodore Mark B. Watson, Royal Canadian Navy will relinquish command to Colonel Bill McLean Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF). The change of command ceremony will be held at Salaberry Armoury (Régiment de Hull) on Wednesday, June 27th at 12:45 p.m.
The change of command ceremony will be officiated by the Vice-Chief of Defence Staff Chief of Staff, Brigadier General Craig King.
During his tenure as the Canadian Forces Base Commander in the National Capital Region, Commodore Mark B. Watson launched numerous community initiatives such as the launch of the Guard of Honour newspaper and the organization of the Canadian Defence Community Family Appreciation Days.
"There are more than 50,000 Defence community members in the National Capital Region including Regular Force members, Reserve Force members, civilian employees, veterans and their family. It is an impressive community which I was proud to serve over the last two years," said Cmdre Watson. Cmdre Watson was promoted to his current rank on June 25th and will be taking command of the Director General Personnel and Family Services (DGPFSS).
Colonel Bill McLean is taking command of CFSU(O) after two years as the Director of Air Personnel Management where he was responsible to shape personnel policy, ensure better care of RCAF personnel and their families, and shape Human Resources requirements in building the RCAF of the future.
