To coincide with the Queen's Diamond Jubilee, leading scheduled airline Monarch has put together an infographic looking at air travel and the changes it has gone through during the Queen's years on the throne.

Combining facts about air travel, the Queen's reign and Monarch's own aircraft history, the Jubilee infographic takes you through a journey over the last 60 years of air travel, and illustrates Monarch's own passion for travel in its own unique way!

The years in which the Queen has been on the throne have been the most important years in air travel. 1952, the year the Queen ascended the throne was also the year of the world's first jet airliner passenger service. Monarch has nearly been around as long as the Queen at the throne, as 1967 marked the birth of Monarch Airlines, and saw their first aircraft, a Bristol Britannia 300 turboprop take to the skies. In 1988, Monarch was carrying around 2.5 million passengers every year, and by 2011, this number had increased to 6 million people flying with Monarch.

With the Queens Diamond Jubilee just a few days away, Monarch's collection of facts and stats reflect on the journey air travel itself has been on. The infographic throws in a few surprises too, such as the changes in speed of travel, the cost of travel, and the Monarchy's air travel spend for 2011!
