Charity Begins with a Phone

LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM--(Marketwire - March 18, 2009) -

Editors Note: A photo and video are included with this press release.

Choose Sony Ericsson's all-new special edition pink W595 Walkman(TM) phone from T-Mobile and Sony Ericsson will donate Pounds Sterling 5 from the sale of each one to the Breast Cancer Care charity.

It's part of a new partnership with Breast Cancer Care - the information and support service for anyone affected by breast cancer.

The phone has a 3.2 megapixel camera, 2GB memory card and Bluetooth. Buyers also get a Breast Cancer Care pink ribbon pin badge to show their support.

There is also a supporting video (attached to this release) that both explains the importance of being breast aware and helps people understand more about the risks of breast cancer.

Commenting on the partnership, Breast Cancer Care's Director of Fundraising Murray Lindo said, "One person is diagnosed with breast cancer every 11 minutes. Our mission is to be there for each and every one of them but we can't do that without the help of companies like Sony Ericsson. Their support means that we can offer information and support to more people at a time when they need it most."

Dave Hilton, Head of Marketing at Sony Ericsson, UK & Ireland states, "Sony Ericsson is committed to building a strong retail proposition with Breast Cancer Care that can benefit the charity and our customers. The W595 Walkman pink handset has become our conduit to raising funds for a great and worthy cause. By giving consumers the opportunity to purchase a handset and help support those affected by breast cancer, charity can now begin with a phone."

The pink W595 Walkman phone is available now in T-Mobile stores or log onto www.t-mobile.co.uk/W595pink.
