Charles Giametta Joins BakBone as Vice President of North America Sales; New Vice President to Focus on Expanding Enterprise Data Protection Software Sales

SAN DIEGO--(CCNMatthews - Jan 23, 2006) -

BakBone Software® (TSX:BKB) (Pink Sheets:BKBO), a global provider of heterogeneous integrated data protection solutions, today announced the appointment of Charles Giametta to the position of vice president of North America Sales. In this role, Giametta will direct sales development, channel management activities, and revenue growth in the North America region.

"As we continue to develop market-leading data protection technology, executing our sales strategies, increasing our sales opportunities, and expanding our channel presence throughout the Americas will be the primary focus for our North America sales team."

Most recently, Giametta served as vice president of North America Sales and general manager at Fatwire Software, in Mineola, New York. In this position, he was instrumental in building the Company's channel sales organization and implementing a new Channel Partner Program, as well as closing the company's largest OEM transaction. Prior to joining Fatwire, Giametta served as the vice president of sales, Mid-Atlantic region for Legato Systems through its acquisition by EMC Corporation. During his five years at EMC-Legato, Giametta doubled the size of the Eastern Sales Region team and helped significantly grow revenues across the Eastern United States and Canada. Before moving to EMC-Legato in 1999, Giametta was the vice president of sales in the New York Metro region for Computer Associates, leading a sales team focused on selling software for both mainframe systems and midrange open systems. In addition to holding the position of vice president of channel sales for North America for GE Capital, Giametta has also held senior management positions at leading technology companies including Coherent Communications and Unisys Corporation.

Giametta holds a B.A. in Political Science and a Master's degree in Public Administration from C.W. Post University.
