Charlotte Marriott City Center Toasts Diversity of Choice at Its New Wine Dinner

This Charlotte Hotel Lets Guests Play Favorites Among Wine Pairings

CHARLOTTE, NC--(Marketwired - Nov 7, 2013) - Everybody loves a good contest, whether it's awarding a blue ribbon to a pie at a fair, or selecting the next superstar on a television show. At the Charlotte Marriott City Center's Savannah Red Restaurant and Wine Bar, however, this universal interest is taking a more immediate approach.

On November 15, 2013, Savannah Red Restaurant and Wine Bar will host a dramatically new kind of wine dinner, one that matches its reputation for serving "the boldest food in Charlotte," according to the renowned James Beard Foundation. Instead of traditional pairings or a featured label, this uptown Charlotte restaurant is emphasizing the sort of choice that's made reality television a national pastime. During each course, guests will be invited to try two different wines, listen to the merits of each one as presented by winery representatives Sean Novak and Josh Beasley and then decide for themselves which one pairs best with the course.

This may not be as easy as it sounds. Choosing the right chardonnay, for example, for a dish of pan-seared scallops and a bread pudding made of oyster mushrooms, brown-butter vinaigrette, cranberry chutney and roasted Bartlett pears involves a nuanced palette and a good ear for the deciding details. The braised lamb shank, meanwhile, will be paired with two zinfandels, and the coffee smoked crème brûlée will find its mate in one of two cabernets.

Guests will arrive at this hotel in uptown Charlotte, North Carolina at 6 p.m. to begin with a light reception and sparkling wine. Dinner seating will follow at 7 p.m.

While the wine dinner promises to broaden the horizons of oenophiles and novices alike, it is just an introduction to the wide range of dining experiences to be had at this hotel in Charlotte, North Carolina. From one of the last smoking lounges open in the city (Cutter's Cigar Bar), to Champions Sports Bar and Restaurant, a beloved Charlotte sports bar, locals and visitors equally appreciate the range of choice available among the hotel's restaurant options, just as they will appreciate the same experience of choice at the wine event at Savannah Red Restaurant and Wine Bar.

Reservations are required for the wine dinner, which is $65 per person, and they may be made by calling 704-363-8161.
