Charlotte Marriott Hotels Join Forces to Organize Local Dress For Success(R) Clothing Drive

CHARLOTTE, NC--(Marketwired - Nov 17, 2015) - Two Charlotte boutique hotels recently helped to spearhead a community effort to give local women a chance to look and feel their best as they begin new chapters of their personal and professional lives.

The Charlotte Marriott SouthPark and the Renaissance Charlotte SouthPark joined six other local Marriott properties to establish a Nov. 2-5 Dress For Success® Charlotte Marriotts Clothing Drive supported by a total of eight Charlotte-area Marriott properties. The idea for the drive initially stemmed from a Marriott Client Appreciation Week-related community service project among a sales team of nine dynamic women. The team wanted to help less fortunate women in the Charlotte area, and Dress For Success® was a natural partner.

SouthPark Marriott and Renaissance General Manager Kris Horacek, along with fellow Charlotte-area Marriott General Manager Crissy Wright, championed the Dress For Success® Charlotte Marriotts Clothing Drive.

For Success, the desire for people to join them in supporting the cause kept growing," said the SouthPark Charlotte hotel manager. "We soon realized that we could put the power of all eight Marriott Hotels in the Charlotte area behind them to expand this effort from just a group of nine women to potentially thousands of people."

The mission of Dress For Success® is to promote the economic independence of disadvantaged women by providing professional attire, a network of support and the career development tools to help women thrive in work and in life. Among other services, the nonprofit provides complete interview outfits, including shoes and accessories (up to five outfits) for each woman when she prepares to interview for or obtains a job.

In all, the Dress For Success® Charlotte Marriotts Clothing Drive collected approximately 200 items from three donation locations at the front desks of the Renaissance Charlotte SouthPark Hotel, Charlotte Marriott City Center and the Ritz Carlton Charlotte.
