Lawn Mower Racing Champion, Bobby Cleveland, to Jump His Monster Mower Over 22 Race Cars on 'April Fuels Day' to Commemorate His Induction Into the USLMRA National Lawn Mower Racing Hall of Fame

CHARLOTTE, NC--(Marketwired - Apr 1, 2014) - It's no joke that today on April 1 the World's Fastest Lawn Mower Racing champion, Bobby Cleveland, will jump his Monster Mower over 22 race cars at Charlotte Motor Speedway. The event will mark the 22nd birthday of the U.S. Lawn Mower Racing Association (USLMRA), which the organization coined "April Fuels Day," to celebrate its history and 700 members across the country. Known as the STA-BIL® Engine Answerman, Cleveland will complete the jump with his custom-built Monster Mower to commemorate the announcement of his prestigious induction into the USLMRA National Lawn Mower Racing Hall of Fame.

One of the most decorated lawn mower racers in the world, Cleveland set the World Land Speed Record of 96.529 miles per hour on a lawn mower at the Bonneville Salt Flats in 2010 and continues to race in the U.S. and internationally. Today, Cleveland aims to set a new record at Charlotte Motor Speedway on the world's first Monster Mower, which features a custom-built Snapper with 20 horsepower v-twin engine, 4-wheel drive, 4-wheel steering and 4-wheel independent suspension, by making a monster jump over 22 race cars.

"We're honored to announce Bobby Cleveland as the next inductee into the USLMRA National Lawn Mower Racing Hall of Fame as he is truly an icon in this sport as a decorated racer, talented design engineer and the STA-BIL Engine Answerman for the past nine years," said Bruce Kaufman, "Mr. Mow It All" and USLMRA president. "For Bobby, it's only fitting that he enters the Hall of Fame in a BIG way with his monster jump at the legendary Charlotte Motor Speedway."

Cleveland will jump his monster mower on April 1 at 1 p.m. Following the jump, an announcement will be made about Cleveland's induction into the USLMRA National Lawn Mower Racing Hall of Fame, which is supported by USLMRA founding sponsor and leading brand of fuel stabilizers, STA-BIL®. The event leads up to the AutoFair presented by Oldride.com from April 3-6 at Charlotte Motor Speedway where USLMRA members from across the country are coming to compete in the STA-BIL National Lawn Mower Racing Series event.

AutoFair annually attracts more than 100,000 visitors, features nearly 50 car club displays and offers a surplus of automotive parts and memorabilia for sale or trade. There's also a collector car auction conducted by Dealer Auctions Inc. and more than 1,500 collectible vehicles of all makes and models will be available for sale in the car corral that rings the 1.5-mile superspeedway.
