Chartwell Appoints Chief Operating Officer and VP, Software Development

CALGARY, ALBERTA--(Marketwire - Oct. 21, 2008) - Chartwell Technology Inc. (TSX:CWH) ("Chartwell"), a leading provider of gaming software systems to the remote gaming industry is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Dave Acorn as Chief Operating Officer. In his new role, Mr. Acorn will oversee all of the operational aspects of Chartwell's broad product design, development and deployment as well as Chartwell's expanding client services capabilities.

Mr. Acorn has been with Chartwell since 1999 with increasing areas of responsibility from product design to VP, Product and Client Management and most recently, VP, Software Development. He received his Honours diploma in Internet Object Oriented Software Engineering from the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology. Mr. Acorn has an extensive background in Internet and e-commerce development and design and a very broad base of experience in the online gaming industry.

Appointment of Vice President, Software Development

Chartwell is also pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Clinton Begin as Vice President, Software Development. Mr. Begin will assume responsibility for providing technical vision, leadership, management and long-term direction for all aspects of Chartwell's software development.

Mr. Begin has built a presence in both the enterprise and open source communities. Having consulted as a Senior Developer and Agile Mentor for industry greats such as ThoughtWorks, Microsoft and Stanford University, his experiences have spanned a broad range of business and technical domains. Mr. Begin has applied agile methodologies, open source software, Java, .NET and Ruby to the development of large-scale applications and is an experienced author, speaker, and has delivered formal presentations and training from San Francisco to New York City.
