Chase Paymentech and Angie's List Team Up on Behalf of Small Businesses

Companies Join Forces to Provide Payment Options to Contractors and Small Businesses

DALLAS, TX--(Marketwire - February 17, 2009) - Chase Paymentech (, a leading merchant acquirer and payment processor, and Angie's List (, the nation's pre-eminent provider of consumer ratings on local service providers, today announced their alliance to make affordable credit card and electronic payment acceptance available to thousands of small businesses and service providers.

The alliance, called Angie's List Merchant Services, allows service providers named on Angie's List access to Chase Paymentech's payment platforms at preferential rates. The payment options will allow many service companies their first opportunity to accept electronic payments.

"Consumers deserve choice, including in their method of payment," said Angie's List Founder Angie Hicks. "By engaging Chase Paymentech, service providers will have the ability to provide a variety of convenient and safe payment methods to their customers -- helping both sides of the transaction."

Many small businesses have been challenged by the costs and setup processes required to accept credit card payments. In fact, a study conducted by Angie's List indicated that 41 percent of the service providers rated by the company's members (including plumbers, electricians and general contractors) do not currently accept electronic payments. Angie's List Merchant Services offers a simple setup in order to gain access to secure and reliable platforms at very competitive rates.

According to Elliot Benitez, president of Flor's Cleaning Service of Chicago, IL, a customer of Angie's List Merchant Services, "The best thing about accepting credit cards is it legitimizes my business and provides peace of mind for me and my clients."

"Through our alliance with Angie's List, our goal is to enable small businesses who traditionally might not accept cards an opportunity to do so," said Chase Paymentech Group Executive of Partnership Programs, Peter Gasparro. "Angie's List has a long history of trust with their service providers. We believe combining two powerful brands like Angie's List and Chase Paymentech provides reassurance to small businesses that in these difficult economic times, they have somewhere to turn."
