CheapOair Analyzes Travel Trend Data From the Fourth of July

Leading Online Travel Agency Finds Orlando and Cancun to Be the Top 2012 Destinations for This Holiday

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwire - Jul 11, 2012) - CheapOair, a leading online travel agency, named its top 10 international and national destinations for the 4th of July week including pricing and year over year data trends. Popular tourist destinations such as Orlando, Florida and Cancun, Mexico topped this year's charts, while several new destinations were included, especially in the international realm.

From the year over year prices, even though airfare has risen since last year, consumers are still traveling and taking advantage of the fact that the holiday fell in the middle of the week. Travelers extended their vacations before and after the holiday, allowing them to travel farther away from home. An example of this is London, whose airfare was fairly high compared to the other destinations on the list, but with the Olympics a few weeks away, people are traveling there now in advance of the games.

Overall, airfare prices for the 4th of July holiday saw an average increase of 4.2% for national destinations and 9.8% for international destinations.

Top Domestic Destinations 2012 vs. 2011:
A top choice destination for travelers for the 4th of July this year was Florida, with three of the state's cities making the top 10 and Orlando claiming the number one spot, up from number three in 2011. Despite one of the highest domestic airfare increases, Los Angeles moved up one spot ranking second and Las Vegas rounded out the top three. Making its debut this year on the top 10 list are Dallas and Miami, ranking 7th and 9th, respectively.
