Chef's Garden at Orlando Airport Marriott Restaurant Celebrates One Year

ORLANDO, FL--(Marketwired - Mar 25, 2014) - At the Orlando Airport Marriott's Crimson Tavern, ingredients are not just locally sourced -- some of them are grown just outside the doors. With a 2,500-square-foot Chef's Garden, the restaurant near Orlando International Airport is able to offer guests fresh herbs, fruits and vegetables, as well as a unique setting to host a special event. This month, the garden is hosting a special event of its own as it celebrates its year anniversary.

Chef Tony will be showcasing a Palmetto Creek Farm whole pig prepared 8 different ways, along with fresh garden produce and local seafood with craft beer and wine pairings. Menu includes:

Located alongside the pool area and facing Lake Michelle, the Chef's Garden is overseen by Tony Hull, executive chef at the Orlando hotel's tavern restaurant, who peruses the rows of fresh herbs, peppers, fruits and vegetables to create that evening's specials and see what will make it into the other dishes on the menu. What can't be found in the chef's garden is sourced from local farms and companies including Winter Park Honey, Satur Farm, Long & Scott Farm, Lake Meadows Naturals, Palmetto Creek, Creekstone Natural Angus, Tanglewood Farms Poultry, MyYard Farm, Loch Duarte Salmon, Uncle Matts Citrus, Muse Gelato and Orlando Brewing Company.

Highlighting the beauty of nature isn't only seen on plates; guests can also host group dinners and other social gatherings in what was once an unused volleyball court and is now a charming outdoor event space. From a cocktail reception to a family reunion, the space can host as many as 80 guests, depending on the set-up, with a custom menu that can speak to various themes and dietary restrictions. It doesn't require a special occasion to enjoy the culinary craftsmanship of Hull, however; his work can be sampled coming out of the kitchen at Crimson Tavern, the hotel's contemporary American restaurant. The inviting space features dark gray floors, hand-laid brick, hand-built barn doors and a chalkboard menu featuring dishes such as roasted bone marrow with a parsley caper salad; a cottage pie with bison and Meyers natural Angus, served with cheddar mash; and cheese plates featuring selections from around the world.

A more casual meal can be enjoyed at the bar, where diners can nibble on the Tavern Pizza with mushrooms, bacon and truffle aioli; soft pretzel sticks with beer-smoked cheddar dip and a tempting selection of desserts including the Knickerbocker Glory with locally crafted milk gelato layered with decadent toppings, creams, crumbles and drizzles.
