Chegg Hatches New Student Classified Service; Reduces Student Expenses & Gives Back to Community

New Service Allows College Alumni or Anyone to Donate Items to Their Local College Students; Post for FREE on Chegg.com -- No Need to Call or Pay for PickUp; Students Take Things Off Your Hands

SANTA CLARA, CA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- September 19, 2006 -- Chegg (as in 'chicken & egg') www.chegg.com, a local student classifieds website, has announced a new service that allows communities to give back to local college students by posting items they no longer need or want on Chegg.com.

Chegg's "Free" category now allows college alumni or anyone to donate things like Furniture, Bikes, Electronics, Books, Media, Autos, etc. to students for regular use. Instead of having to pay someone to pick items up, college students can now take them for free and in exchange, you're helping them save money and giving back to the community.

"Over the summer we were wracking our brains to find additional ways where we can positively impact student lifestyle," said Osman Rashid, Co-Founder and CEO of Chegg, Inc. "We realized that by tying the local community with students, we could create a service that worked for everyone. eBay and craigslist.com have proven that 'one person's junk is another person's treasure,' and the only difference here, it is all for FREE."

"One of the best things I've ever seen on Chegg was a free hamster with cage!" said Andy Ertell, a junior at Northwestern University. "Chegg's free category has real gems that can we can literally use right away -- so it helps us save money -- we love it."

"We have so many things lying in the garage that are in great condition but are of no use to us," said Anchal Jain, a resident close to the UC Berkeley campus. "Allowing students to pick up stuff useful to them is a great way for us to help them out, and it helps us out by removing things we don't need."

Chegg's vision is to help students find cheap stuff and also help make them a quick buck by selling things they don't need. The cost of tuition, textbooks and living is huge for students. With this new offering, Chegg hopes to decrease that cost. Free items can be posted on www.chegg.com by accessing the "Donate Your Stuff" link, or directly by going to www.chegg.com/donate. Chegg is working on how to provide receipts for such donations for tax benefits and this will be announced soon.
