Chemical Producers Welcome Alberta Energy Strategy

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Dec. 12, 2008) - Canadian Chemical Producers are pleased to see the clear articulation of a value-added goal in the Alberta Government's energy strategy released yesterday. The document titled "Launching Alberta's Energy Future" is part vision, part strategy and part direction.

"Elected officials have laid out a bold series of goals and intent and it will now be up to policies, programs and industry to move from this vision to a reality," said Richard Paton, President of the Canadian Chemical Producers Association (CCPA). "The proposed portfolio approach to resource upgrading and the recognition of the need for policy alignment across sectors and jurisdictions are welcome and we will work to ensure that industry plays an active role."

CCPA represents leading companies engaged in the business of chemistry, converting energy, minerals and organic materials into value-added products for Canadians. In Alberta our members are the province's largest manufacturing sector adding value to Alberta's energy and also the leading exporter of manufactured products.
