Chester Community Charter School Students Use Teambuilding to Prepare for PSSAs

Pennsylvania's Largest K-8 Charter School Organizes Pep Rally for Standardized Tests

CHESTER, PA--(Marketwired - April 15, 2015) - On Friday, April 10, more than 350 students at Chester Community Charter School (CCCS) West Campus, one of three campuses of Pennsylvania's largest K-8 charter school, participated in a pep rally to kick off testing for the Pennsylvania System of School Assessment (PSSA). Sterlen Barr, CEO of Rapping About Prevention, Inc. and motivational rap artist, and his team, facilitated the rally.

Barr and his presenters used challenging games and activities to draw parallels to the PSSAs by informing students to listen and pay attention to directions from administrators and teachers during the exams, to work hard to complete the test, and to also remember CCCS West Campus' motto, "P.A.S.S.," which stands for "Positive Attitudes Succeed and Soar."

"We held the pep rally to show our students we believe in them, and to give them a chance to release pent-up energy. We want them to be excited for the PSSA. At CCCS, we've established an environment where our students know that they can go above and beyond to reach success," said Catrina Long, principal at CCCS West Campus.

Pep rallies for the standardized test were also held on the school's East and Upland campuses.
