Chevrolet-Buick-GMC-Cadillac Sales Increase Five Percent in January

OSHAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Feb. 1, 2011) - Chevrolet, Buick, GMC, and Cadillac dealers reported 14,542 sales in January, a five percent increase from one year ago. The gain was driven by strong retail sales growth across all four brands, up 11 percent combined.

"January's results continue to build on the momentum we established with customers throughout 2010," said Marc Comeau, vice-president of sales, service and marketing at GM of Canada. "Consistent retail growth demonstrates that our award-winning new products, combined with an intense focus on customer service, are winning new customers."

Passenger car sales rose nine percent in January, driven by strong performances by award-winning new launch products like the Chevrolet Cruze and Buick Regal, as well as soaring sales for the Buick LaCrosse, up 41 percent.

Customer demand for fuel-efficient crossovers remained high, with sales for the Canadian-made Chevrolet Equinox and GMC Terrain increasing 26 percent from one year ago. The Cadillac SRX also continued red-hot, with sales increasing almost 50 percent, its thirteenth consecutive monthly increase.

Chevrolet and GMC pickup trucks continued to demonstrate their leading capabilities, with Silverado, Avalanche, and Sierra sales up eight percent. The all-new heavy duty Silverado and Sierra have recently won head-to-head competitions such as the Pickuptrucks.com "Rumble in the Rockies," the 2010 Truck King Challenge, and the Edmunds.com heavy duty comparison test.
