Chi-X Europe Russell Index (CHERI™) Series: Chi-X Europe Russell PanEurope Index Outperformed Chi-X Europe Russell Eurozone Index December Month-to-Date as of 12/12 and for Monday, December 12th

SEATTLE, WA--(Marketwire - Dec 15, 2011) - Amid continued volatility in European equity markets and in the wake of British Prime Minister David Cameron's Friday decision to rule out a new referendum on EU membership, the more broadly diversified Chi-X Europe Russell (CHERI™) PanEurope Index performed better than its less broadly diversified counterpart the Chi-X Europe Russell (CHERI™) Eurozone Index for December month-to-date and for Monday, December 12th.

For the month-to-date through December 12th, the CHERI™ PanEurope Index lost (-2.8%) while the CHERI™ Eurozone Index lost (-3.8%). And for Monday, December 12th, the CHERI™ PanEurope Index lost (-2.7%) while the CHERI™ Eurozone Index lost (-3.6%).

"In a volatile European investment climate where we see heightened risk in the Eurozone markets, investors may benefit from a benchmark that represents the whole of Europe," said Gareth Parker, director of research, innovation and product development for Russell Indexes in Europe. "With a broader set of countries and constituents beyond the Eurozone, the CHERI PanEurope's exposure to non-Eurozone countries such as the UK and Switzerland spreads risk more broadly than pure Eurozone indexes and provides investors with increased diversification."

The Chi-X Europe Russell PanEurope Index is a broad, liquid and large cap pan-European index providing comprehensive exposure to pan-European equity markets. Constituents are comprised of European securities in the Russell Global 1000™ Index; 14 countries, 216 securities, 5 currencies. The Chi-X Europe Russell Eurozone Index is a broad, liquid and large cap Eurozone index providing comprehensive exposure to Eurozone equity markets. Constituents are comprised of Eurozone securities in the Russell Global 1000 Index; 10 countries, 130 securities, 1 currency.
