Chicago Movies in the Park at Belmont Harbor a Benefit of Lakeview Living

Planned Property Management Apartments Across the Street From Free Public Showings

CHICAGO, IL--(Marketwired - Oct 13, 2014) - Summer in Chicago means movies in the park. The 14th season of the free film series features more than 250 movies at dozens of parks, including Belmont Harbor.

This past season included two movies at Belmont Harbor: the Hitchcock classic Strangers on a Train (June 16) and the Cary Grant comedy The Bachelor and the Bobby-Soxer (July 28). Both of these classic films are much better known from contemporary remakes, but they should be enjoyed in their original version, too. Strangers on a Train was the inspiration for the comedic remake Throw Momma from the Train, but the original is a taut thriller often hailed as one of Hitchcock's best. The Bachelor and the Bobby-Soxer originated the "You remind me of a man," routine that was popularized again nearly 40 years later in Labyrinth. It features great performances from Cary Grant and leading ladies Myrna Loy and a 19-year-old Shirley Temple (in one of her last film roles).

"The Movies in the Park series is one of the highlights of the summer," said Jasko Omervic of Planned Property Management. "A free movie and a picnic dinner make for an inexpensive date night, and the mix of classic and newer movies means that people can usually find a feature they're looking for. It's especially convenient for residents of our property at 3130 N. Lake Short Drive, which is basically across the street from Belmont Harbor Park."

Additional films were shown at other parks in the area, such as the series of 1980s classics presented at the Chicago History Museum: Ghostbusters (June 18), Ferris Bueller's Day Off (July 9), and The Princess Bride (August 20). For information on movies in other parks, visit
