Chicago Pride Concert a Rainbow Rhapsody: Sounds of Love and Liberation

Planned Property Management Apartments in Lakeview Within Easy Walking Distance of Concert

CHICAGO, IL--(Marketwired - Oct 15, 2014) - On June 10, shhh . . . OUT! Lakeside Pride Jazz Ensemble held its annual pride concert at the Center on Halsted. Entitled A Rainbow Rhapsody: Sounds of Love and Liberation, the concert promises to be a celebration of friendship, solidarity, and pride, and it includes work by several major composers.

A Rainbow Rhapsody promises to be a musical retelling of the originating event behind the Chicago Pride Parade. The Pride Parade occurs on the last Sunday of June because of the Stonewall riots, which occurred on June 28, 1969 in response to harassing raids by police in New York City. To celebrate the events, the first Chicago Pride Parade took place June 28, 1970.

To tell the story of Stonewall Inn and after, shhh . . . OUT! Has selected some very famous works by some of America's most popular composers, including Berlin, Gershwin, Porter, and Bernstein.

"The pride concert reminds us not just of the diversity that makes Chicago such a vibrant place to live," said Jasko Omervic of Planned Property Management, "but also how wonderful is our great American experiment. The quest for freedom continues in every city in the nation, as all communities feel this universal longing. And it's a great program being held so close to several of our properties, such as 450 Melrose, just a 15 minute walk away."

Although this is the last concert of the season, the Freedom Marching Band could be seen in the Pride Parade and in the Oak Park 4th of July parade. For more information, visit http://lakesidepride.cloudaccess.net/.
