New Location Will Become Ninth in Metro-Baltimore to Hold a "First 100" Event

BALTIMORE, MD -- (MARKET WIRE) -- December 7, 2005 -- Chick-fil-A will open a new free-standing restaurant in Laurel Dec. 8 by giving away nearly $26,000 in free food in the first 15 minutes of business to the first 100 in line.

The Dec. 8 opening of the new Chick-fil-A restaurant, located at 13600 Baltimore Ave. in Laurel, will include the awarding of a free year supply of Chick-fil-A combo meals (52 coupons) to each of the first 100 adults in line by 6 a.m. Those 18 years and older can line up 24 hours in advance, with the year supplies being awarded on Dec. 8 sometime between 6 and 6:30 a.m. The restaurant will open immediately after the awarding of the prizes.

The new restaurant in Laurel will be the ninth new Chick-fil-A restaurant in metro-Baltimore to award the first 100 adults in line free Chick-fil-A for a year, bringing the total value of free food given away to Baltimore residents to more than $225,000.

"We've given away a total of more than $3 million in free Chick-fil-A food since we started the 'First 100 Fans' promotion two years ago," said Dan Cathy, son of the chain's founder Truett Cathy. "This event has attracted Chick-fil-A raving fans from across the country to be among the first 100 in line." Chick-fil-A launched its "First 100 Fans" promotion in Oct. 2003 in Phoenix and has continued the event at every free-standing and in-line restaurant grand opening across the country.

Chris Dinoto has been chosen to operate the new Chick-fil-A restaurant in Laurel. Dinoto currently operates the free-standing Chick-fil-A restaurant at Corridor Market Place and will become a multi-unit Operator when the Laurel location opens. Influenced by his father, brother and two cousins, all of whom are Chick-fil-A Operators, Dinoto' s first and only job was with Chick-fil-A. He and his wife, Jill, have three children.

The new restaurant will be open from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Saturday, closing on Sunday.

Atlanta-based Chick-fil-A is the nation's second-largest quick-service chicken restaurant chain with nearly 1,235 restaurants in 38 states and Washington D.C.
