Kickstarter Launches Today; Will Fund Mompreneur's Venture to Deliver Organic Pasta Products to Canadian Parents

A new Kickstarter campaign launches today debuting a nutritious pasta product called Chickapea pasta. Founder and new mom Shelby Taylor had a vision to close the gap between healthy and convenient meal options by reinventing a familiar comfort food, made entirely of organic chickpeas.

"When I began shopping for my own family, the decision became obvious, spend time in the kitchen making something healthy, or sacrifice nutrition for convenience," said Taylor, former health store owner. Taylor saw the need for healthy, quick food options that children would love and parents could trust. Pasta was the natural solution.

"Chickapea is an organic, non-GMO, gluten-free pasta line made up of fibre-rich chickpeas and super food chia, nothing else," she said.

With dreams of expanding production, Taylor is gearing up for the launch of a 30 day Kickstarter campaign beginning October 8th. The campaign will give people an opportunity to not only try the Chickapea product first hand but bring her production to the next level and onto the shelves of Canadian health food and grocery stores.

An advocate for accessible healthy food, Taylor has included charitable food donations as part of her campaign, making her protein-rich, non-GMO pasta line accessible to everyone.

Taylor's business idea took off after winning the SmOffice entrepreneur contest in May 2015. Shelby's company, Earth to Kids, was also awarded two grants designated for young entrepreneurs, including a $5,000 grant from ventureLAB's BOOST program.

Through it all, Taylor has remained committed to her dreams to share her passion of healthy food with families across Canada.
