Chief Nursing Officer of the College Network Will Speak at Georgia Organization of Nurse Leaders Annual Meeting

INDIANAPOLIS, IN--(Marketwire - Oct 10, 2011) - The College Network™ is pleased to announce that its Chief Nursing Officer, Nita Kasan, will be speaking at the upcoming Georgia Organization of Nurse Leaders annual meeting in November. Kasan will speak about lateral violence and how increased nursing education can help lessen the costly and potentially devastating effects of this growing problem.

"Research consistently shows an unacceptable level of violence in the workplace for nurses," Kasan said. "It is important that nurse leaders understand the consequences of lateral violence in their workplace and make concerted efforts to set the stage for patient care culture."

Kasan's presentation will underscore the current and future state of nursing while highlighting the profession's commitment to a more highly educated workforce. She will provide statistics and research to demonstrate the correlation between lateral violence, education, retention and clinical patient outcomes.

"Because health care is a constantly evolving field in which nurses play a significant role, the Georgia Organization of Nurse Leaders encourages nurses at all levels of their career to seek advanced education," said President Elect of Georgia Organization of Nurse Leaders Patricia Waller. "We especially support innovative approaches to education that allow nurses to learn and gain new skills while working to care for others in their profession."
