Chieftain Metals Announces Senior Management Appointment

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - July 27, 2011) - Chieftain Metals Inc. (TSX:CFB) is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Paul Chawrun, P.Eng., as Executive Vice President of Corporate Development, effective August 3, 2011.

Mr. Victor Wyprysky, President and CEO, stated "We are fortunate to have Mr. Chawrun join Chieftain Metals and welcome him to the executive team. He brings to Chieftain a tremendous amount of relevant experience and will very effectively oversee all aspects of the upcoming feasibility study."

Mr. Chawrun is a mining engineer with over 20 years of experience in progressive leadership responsibility in large-scale mine operations and project development with Suncor Energy, Fording Coal Limited and Dynatec Corporation. Most recently, he was the Director of Technical Services for Detour Gold Corp, and prior to that was Vice President of Project Economics and Acquisitions at Strategic Resource Acquisition Corporation. Mr. Chawrun's experience includes engineering management, capital budgeting, mine design, large scale earthwork engineering and government regulatory approvals; including expert project valuations and business frameworks. Mr. Chawrun also has a degree in Geology and a Masters in Business Administration.
