Childhelp's 11th Annual "Drive the Dream" Gala Announced

"Go for the Gold" Themed-Event Presented by The Foundation for Global Sports Development and Grimaldi's Pizzeria

PHOENIX, AZ--(Marketwired - Nov 11, 2014) - Childhelp®, the nation's oldest and largest nonprofit advocating for abused and neglected children, will hold its 11th annual Childhelp "Drive the Dream" gala presented by The Foundation for Global Sports Development and Grimaldi's Pizzeria at the Arizona Biltmore Saturday Jan. 10.

This year's event will once again be chaired by Pat and Bob Bondurant and Jim and Carol Hebets with a focus on an Olympic theme of "Go for the Gold." The theme was chosen to highlight overcoming life's challenges and obstacles to reach a brighter future, especially for our children. Scott Hamilton, Olympic gold medalist, network TV skating commentator, actor, performer, producer, Emmy® Award nominee, best-selling author, and a cancer and brain tumor survivor, will serve as Master of Ceremonies.

Entertainment for Childhelp "Drive the Dream" will be a performance by six-time Tony® Award and two-time Grammy® Award winner Audra McDonald. Television audiences will also recognize her for her roles as Dr. Naomi Bennett on the hit ABC medical drama Private Practice and as the Mother Abbess in NBC's 2013 live telecast of Rodgers and Hammerstein's The Sound of Music opposite Carrie Underwood as Maria.

Confirmed attendees include: Maksim Chmerkovskiy (winner of ABC's Dancing with the Stars), Jen Lilley (Days of Our Lives actress), Misty Hyman (2000 Olympic gold medalist), Margaret Hoelzer (2008 multiple Olympic medal winner), and more.

During the event, Childhelp will bestow several awards for charitable work including the Spirit of the Children Award, the Childhelp Founders Award, and the Nellie Jackson Award. Bob Bondurant will be honored by Ford Motors with "The Gold." The evening will also include dinner, a silent auction, and a live auction with a variety of prize packages.

In our nation, five children die each day as a result of abuse or neglect, a report of child abuse is made every 10 seconds and nearly 3.3 million reports of child abuse are made annually and Childhelp's programs work to combat these issues daily. The Childhelp "Drive the Dream" gala is the nonprofit's largest annual fundraiser. Proceeds will support the organization's Arizona-based programs and services, such as the downtown Phoenix Childhelp Children's Advocacy Center of Arizona, Childhelp Mobile Advocacy Center of Northern Arizona, and the Childhelp H.K. Cummings Community Center.

About Grimaldi's Pizzeria:

In the world of pizza, Grimaldi's is an institution that has garnered more awards than any other pizzeria in the country with more celebrity sightings than most 5-star restaurants. Using only the freshest ingredients, a "secret recipe" pizza sauce, handmade mozzarella cheese and dough, Grimaldi's serves traditional pizza (as it began in Naples, Italy) in an upscale yet casual, family oriented pizzeria. The intense heat of the oven evenly bakes the pies to create Grimaldi's famous crispy and smoky thin crust that Zagat has voted best pizza year after year.
