Children and Gun Safety -- "Talk to Your Children About the Dangers of Guns"

CHICAGO, IL -- (MARKET WIRE) -- June 13, 2006 -- With school out for summer, children around the country will be enjoying much more free time -- possibly with much less adult supervision. Now is the best time for parents to talk to their children about the dangers of guns. 35% of all homeowners in the United States possess some type of firearm -- and the majority believes they keep their firearms safely away from children. Pathologists find that most unintentional firearm-related deaths among children occur in or around the home of either the victim, or of a friend or relative. This package will focus on tips supplied by a pathologist on how to keep your kids safe, and when to open up a discussion about the dangers of guns. A responsible gun owner and parent also takes us through tips on proper gun and ammunition storage.

Sound on tape:

-- Kim A. Collins, MD, FCAP/ Pathologist

-- Demonstration of proper gun and ammunition storage
