Children International, a leading nonprofit children's organization, has started off the new year with a long-form direct response television (DRTV) campaign. Children International's direct response agency of record, Northern Lights Direct, developed the campaign and will also handle the media buy.

A Child is Waiting is an emotionally compelling 30-minute program hosted by singer/actress and long-time Children International sponsor, Debbie Gibson. Shot in the Philippines and Zambia, the program tells the heartbreaking stories of Anton, Loveness and Helen – underprivileged children trapped in the cycle of devastating poverty.

"The stories are filled with despair, but also hope. In spite of overwhelming circumstances, the children have an amazing spirit," says Andrea Waters, Vice President, Creative & Production Services for Children International. "And the program shows how easily the gift of child sponsorship can perform miracles – one child at a time."

For Ian French, President of Northern Lights Direct, this campaign has been more than just a DRTV project. "We're very proud of our partnership with Children International. Not only has DRTV has been effective for the organization, but very fulfilling for the entire Northern Lights Direct team," says French.

The campaign launches this month.
