Chilean Supreme Court Decision Allows the Resumption of Licensing of the Project Castilla

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL--(Marketwire - November 16, 2010) - MPX Energia S.A. ("MPX") (BOVESPA: MPXE3) (GDR I: MPXEY), a diversified utility company with a large portfolio of thermal energy projects, said that the decision published by the Chilean Supreme Court ("Court") on November 15, will allow the resumption of the licensing process for the Company's Castilla project. Additionally, the Court determined which administrative procedure should be adopted hereafter by the licensing authority.

MPX reiterates its confidence in the approval of environmental licenses for the project given the state-of-the-art technology adopted in the Castilla plant, which exceeds both Chilean and International environmental requirements and standards. The plant, located 80 km from Copiapo in the Atacama Desert, will bring great benefits to Chile and the Atacama region, through the generation of energy and water supply for the region.
