China to Launch First General Survey on Pollutant Sources Next Year

With disintegrating air quality and facing an environmental health catastrophe from unregulated industrial pollution, China has enacted steps to mitigate and control future emission of particulates, NOx, SOx and other pollutants. In order to meet a goal laid out in the national eleventh five-year-plan, namely, to reduce the overall emission volume of major pollutants by 10%, the State Council of China decided to conduct its first nationwide general survey on pollutant sources in the beginning of 2008.
