Chiropractor Announces Holliston Sports Injury Treatment

HOLLISTON, MA--(Marketwire - Nov 1, 2011) - Chiropractor Dr. Michael J. Krupa announced that he provides chiropractic care for sports injuries. Dr. Krupa has extensive education and training as a sports physician. He helps patients recover from running-related injuries, such as knee pain, leg pain or hip pain, as well as a torn ligament. He also treats patients for tennis, golf and skiing-related accident injuries. In addition to sports injury treatments, the practice also treats patients for auto accident injuries, work injuries, headaches, chronic neck pain and back pain.

Dr. Michael J. Krupa, a Holliston chiropractor, announced that his practice, Holliston Spine & Sports Center, provides treatment for sports injuries. These include injuries related to running, tennis, golf and skiing.

"Sports are a wonderful way to stay active and healthy," said Dr. Krupa. "Unfortunately, regardless of your age, the repetitive motions involved in playing a sport can damage the musculoskeletal system, leading to back pain and other injuries. This damage can build up slowly over time, such as from repetitive pounding on the ground while running, or it may occur during a traumatic event like a slip and fall."

Dr. Krupa uses chiropractic care to restore alignment to the musculoskeletal system and help soft tissue injuries heal. When a spinal joint is out of alignment, it can cause pressure from the disc and the joint on the corresponding nerves, leading to chronic back pain. Adjustments restore the spinal disc to proper alignment, and also help to keep extremities in line. This helps support soft tissues, like the ligaments, during the healing process.

"A golf or tennis swing utilizes a select group of muscles, and this repetitive motion over time can really strain these muscles," said Dr. Krupa. "Additionally, the twisting motion associated with the swing may strain muscles in the back, knees and hips. Over time, this can lead to chronic pain. Adjustments are important for keeping the body properly aligned and helping the body safely heal following a tennis or golf injury."

According to Dr. Krupa, many of his patients increasingly utilize adjustments as a way to reduce the risk for injury.

"The goal of every treatment is to restore balance to the body for optimal function," said Dr. Krupa. "You don't have to be a professional athlete to enjoy the benefits of adjustments. When combined with corrective care exercises and stretching, these treatments can significantly reduce the risk of injury."

In addition to chiropractic adjustments, Dr. Krupa also provides nutritional counseling and lifestyle advice for his patients. This is part of his whole body approach to well being.

"Being healthy is more than the absence of pain or injury," said Dr. Krupa. "Proper nutrition and a healthy lifestyle are important for optimizing well being, especially for athletes. The right balance of nutrients and supplements can reduce inflammation and swelling following an injury, and also help the body stay strong and protected against future injuries."

The practice serves the Holliston, Medford, Medway and Ashland communities. Prospective patients who would like to learn more about sports injury treatments may visit the practice's website: http://hollistonspine.com.
