Chocolaterie des Peres Trappistes de Mistassini Inc. Receives Funding From Government of Canada

DOLBEAU-MISTASSINI, QUEBEC--(Marketwired - April 8, 2013) - The Honourable Denis Lebel, Minister of Transport, Infrastructure and Communities, Minister of the Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Regions of Quebec and Minister of Intergovernmental Affairs, today announced that confectionery manufacturer La Chocolaterie des Pères Trappistes de Mistassini Inc. has been granted financial assistance to upgrade its production line.

"By helping La Chocolaterie des Pères Trappistes de Mistassini acquire leading-edge technology, our Government is once again demonstrating its commitment to investing in projects that ensure economic growth," said Minister Lebel.

La Chocolaterie des Pères Trappistes de Mistassini Inc. manufactures traditional chocolate products such as Easter rabbits, rosettes and, most notably, chocolate-covered Lac-Saint-Jean blueberries.

The company, which employs up to 25 people during its peak periods, will use the funding from Canada Economic Development to purchase production equipment and expand its plant as part of an extensive $1.45 million project to boost productivity and thus remain competitive in a growing market.

"The Government of Canada remains focused on four priorities, as outlined by the Prime Minister, that Canadians care most about: their families, the safety of our streets and communities, their pride in being a citizen of this country, and of course, their personal financial security," concluded Minister Lebel.
