Choose ATL Campaign Takes Next Step With Support of Startup Atlanta

City Embraces Grassroots Initiative, Helps Spread Atlanta's Story as America's Digital Hub

ATLANTA, GA--(Marketwired - Feb 20, 2014) - Choose ATL -- a community-driven campaign created to promote Atlanta as the ideal place to live, work and start a company -- has joined forces with Startup Atlanta, the independent business authority incubated by the city. This hybrid effort will take Choose ATL into a new phase, amplifying the inspirational message that was introduced during the first stages of the initiative.

Startup Atlanta, an independent non-profit devoted to nurturing the local startup and entrepreneurial community, offered to raise funds to support Choose ATL. The Choose ATL committee will work directly with Startup Atlanta to move forward in branding the city as the nation's epicenter of digital innovation.

"The city of Atlanta recognized that Choose ATL was an amazing initiative started by passionate people, and we wanted to get behind it," said David Duncan, Executive Director at Startup Atlanta. "We share a goal of stimulating local growth and driving progress within STEAM fields right here in Atlanta, so we're excited to come together and see what our mutual efforts will accomplish."

The financial aid and volunteer assistance provided by Startup Atlanta are vital for upcoming Choose ATL efforts. Planned projects include the creation of new inspirational videos and online content, as well as an increased presence at major digital and technology events including SXSW Interactive. While retaining its grassroots mentality, Choose ATL will now have the resources to capture a much wider audience.

"Startup Atlanta is a natural fit to partner with the Choose ATL campaign," said Adam Harrell, Co-founder and President at Nebo, who will continue to lead the Choose ATL committee. "Both organizations share the same spirit of dreaming big, growing and helping others."

Since its official launch in October 2013, Choose ATL has succeeded in galvanizing citywide supporters. Local influencers, organizations, politicians and businesses have taken up the cause. Having united a proud home front, Choose ATL leaders are advancing toward the greater public.

Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed said, "Atlanta is the technology hub of the Southeast. Home to 57 colleges and universities and the nation's third-largest concentration of Fortune 500 companies, Atlanta continues to attract entrepreneurs and new businesses. We are proud to support Choose ATL and encourage everyone to discover what Atlanta has to offer."
