Choose SA to Tout City's Strengths at SXSW 2016

San Antonio Marketing Group Commits to Hosting Embassy at International Festival

SAN ANTONIO, TX--(Marketwired - Sep 24, 2015) - Choose San Antonio (Choose SA), a nonprofit developed to secure and elevate San Antonio's reputation on the global map of leading cities, announced today it has signed on as an official partner of SXSW Interactive 2016 and will host a cultural embassy during the five-day festival. Highlighting topics such as the city's nightlife, livability, fine arts, and food and drink, Choose SA is dedicated to promoting San Antonio to the world. The nonprofit marketing organization is backed by Think SA, a consortium of thought leaders focused on advancing San Antonio as a premier international city.

Choose SA was created to increase awareness of lifestyle amenities that appeal to the young and highly mobile creative class workforce that is critical to city growth and prosperity.

"Last spring, I challenged the San Antonio business community to join me in creating a cultural embassy at SXSW Interactive 2016 to showcase the city's best and brightest innovations," said Choose San Antonio President and Founder Eric Bell. "We're empowered by the overwhelming support we've received so far."

Choose SA has formed a coalition of San Antonio community organizations to support their efforts at SXSW. Tech Bloc, Café Commerce and many others have already signed on to help curate programming showcasing the best the city has to offer.

"San Antonio is one of the best kept secrets in North America," said Choose SA Executive Director Kevin Peckham. "The range and quality of lifestyle amenities, cultural experiences, and job opportunities it offers puts it on par with the best cities in the world as a place to live, not just visit."

#210Reasons social media campaign, a Choose SA initiative on Facebook and Twitter, explores why residents love San Antonio. This 210-day-long effort leads up to the San Antonio embassy launch at SXSW in Austin this spring.

Community leaders have committed more than $75,000 -- and counting -- to showcase the cultural amenities, lifestyle advantages, and urban neighborhoods that are hallmarks of a vibrant, thriving city in the minds of today's creative class professionals.
