Christian Children's Fund of Canada and TD Wealth Celebrate Women in Philanthropy

TORONTO, ON--(Marketwired - June 16, 2015) - Christian Children's Fund of Canada (CCFC) and TD Wealth (TD) have partnered together for the first time to discuss emerging trends in charitable giving, and the growing participation of women in philanthropy in Canada.

Today, Colleen Bradley, President of Planned Giving Solutions, moderated a panel discussion in Toronto in celebration of Women in Philanthropy. Fellow panelists included Linda Lundström, Fashion Designer, Artist and Honorary Patron for CCFC's 'Campaign to One Million' for Child Protection; Elizabeth Naumovski, Vice President of Marketing at Caldwell Securities Ltd.; Ann Hughes, Vice Chair of CCFC's Board of Directors; and Jo-Anne Ryan, Vice President of Philanthropic Advisory Services, and Executive Director, Private Giving Foundation, TD Wealth.

"It is an honour to be co-hosting an event with such a strong and trusted brand as TD," said Mark Lukowski, Chief Executive Officer, Christian Children's Fund of Canada. "What an amazing opportunity to learn from, and appreciate, some of the 2 million Canadian women who empower charities like CCFC to improve the lives of children and their families around the world."

Event guests heard about the findings of a TD report, Time, Treasure and Talent: Canadian Women in Philanthropy, released in 2014. According to the study, more women give to charity than do men, and women have a more positive view of the value of charities in the development of civil society. In 2012, women in Canada donated about $3 billion to different charities and causes, which is about 50 per cent more than they did just 10 years earlier.

"For many women who participated in the study, philanthropy is considered 'a thing of the heart.' It is not just about money; it is based on effort, commitment and a basic desire to help others by sacrificing personal resources and time," said Jo-Anne Ryan, Vice President of Philanthropic Advisory Services, TD Wealth and Executive Director, Private Giving Foundation.
