Christian Heritage Party of Canada: Canada Must Act Against Sharia Law Now

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Feb. 8, 2011) -

By Jim Hnatiuk, Leader Christian Heritage Party of Canada

A crisis of global proportions is being felt by Western countries that have accepted mass immigration from the Muslim world. Most European states find themselves dealing with immigrant populations unwilling to accept the laws in their adopted societies.

Despite the protestations of some Muslims, it is a fact that immigration and migration have been inherent forms of jihad since Islam's inception, designed to make Islam the dominant force in countries that are currently non-Islamic.(1)

Instead of integrating and abiding by cultural and legal norms, Muslim immigrants have segregated themselves into cultural ghettos where they continue to apply Sharia law to themselves and non-Muslims alike.(2)

This has resulted in riots in France,(3) a rape crisis in Sweden,(4) Sharia punishments being taught to school children in Britain,(5) and holiday welfare fraud in Denmark,(6) to name only four of many social problems.

European leaders are beginning to respond. Geert Wilders, leader of the Dutch Freedom Party, says, "In my country, the Netherlands, 60 percent of the population now sees the mass immigration of Muslims as the number one policy mistake since World War II."(7) In Germany, Chancellor Angela Merkel told her Christian Democratic Union party, "This [multicultural] approach has failed, utterly failed."(8)

Just how badly it has failed can be seen in Norway. Siv Jensen, Leader of the Progress Party, says her country has a real problem with immigrants from Pakistan, Iraq, Bosnia, Somalia and Turkey who do not want to adapt to Norwegian society and law.(9)

Canada has not been immune to this problem. We have seen the honour killing of a 16-year-old in Mississauga, an Afghan mother accused of stabbing her 19-year-old daughter in Montreal, and the on-going trial of a Muslim man, his wife, and son, accused of killing a previous wife and three daughters near Kingston.(10)

Prime Minister David Cameron, addressing a security conference Feb. 5, 2011, said Britain has allowed a weakening of its collective identity and values "under the doctrine of state multiculturalism.."(11)

The only difference between our experience and that of Europe is that the problem is larger there because the Muslim population is larger. At its root, the issue is that Islam calls on believers to obey Sharia law, which runs counter to our Charter of Rights and Freedoms and to our basic values as expressed in the Criminal Code of Canada.

Sharia, for example, allows for honour killings, genital mutilation, the beating of wives, polygamy, execution of adulterers by stoning, amputation as a punishment, and death for homosexuality. It also denies religious freedom in countries where it is practiced. In short, Sharia is as un-Canadian as anything you can think of.

Unfortunately, our badly outdated immigration system is not equipped for the current practice of mass immigration, with the Auditor General noting that we do not possess anywhere near the resources necessary to screen would-be immigrants and refugees.(12) Our Immigration Act is now dangerously dysfunctional and poses a security threat to Canadians.

This, coupled with the effects of rigorous adherence to political correctness by politicians and cultural elitists which has silenced much needed honest discussion on the issue, means Canada is vulnerable to exactly the same dangerous social issues, the same strife, and the same ghettoization as is now being experienced in Europe.

Therefore, my party, CHP Canada, has called for a moratorium on immigration from countries with Sharia-based law until the problem of integration into our society has been resolved. Let's not allow a small problem now, when it's easy to control, to become a big problem later, when it will be many times more difficult to manage.

Sharia law is sexist, prejudiced, exclusionary and discriminatory. It has no place in Canada, and those who practice it should not be allowed into Canada.
