Tobin, Libertarian Candidate for California Secretary of State, Will Speak Against Proposition 14 and Special Interest Money Supporting the Measure

MILL VALLEY, CA--(Marketwire - March 22, 2010) -  Christina Tobin, Libertarian Party candidate for secretary of state of California, today announced her invitation to speak at the Santa Clara Chamber of Commerce on Tuesday, March 23. At the event, Tobin will speak against Proposition 14, the controversial June ballot measure also known as "top-two open primary."

"I am honored I was invited to speak at tomorrow's meeting," stated Tobin. "I will take this opportunity to demonstrate how Proposition 14 would damage California, especially its voters and small businesses."

A passionate advocate for electoral reform and voters' rights, Tobin recently launched the Stop Top Two website (, which serves as the central hub for Californians opposed to Proposition 14.

"The amount of big corporate money lining up to support this measure is unbelievable," continued Tobin. "I have to assume that when Hewlett-Packard, Blue Cross of California, Pacific Life Insurance Company, and numerous PACs spend vast amounts of money on a measure, it is not in the best interest of the people. Just last week, the California Hospitals Committee on Issues sponsored by the California Association of Hospitals and Health Systems contributed $250,000."
