Christopher Gorham Grabs Silver and Bronze Medals at International Karate/Kickboxing Championships

The OmniPod(R) Insulin Management System Helps Young Athletes With Diabetes Win Top Medals in Their Sports

BEDFORD, MA--(Marketwire - November 22, 2010) - Today Insulet Corp. (NASDAQ: PODD), the leader in tubing-free insulin pump technology with its OmniPod® Insulin Management System, recognizes the outstanding achievements of Christopher Gorham, age 12, of Waterford, Michigan for bringing home both silver and bronze medals in the Sparring and Forms competitions at the 2010 World Karate/Kickboxing Council World Championships held in Albufeira, Portugal. Chris is a 2nd degree black belt in training for a 3rd degree black belt; he has been in martial arts since he was four years old, competing all over the world.

"I never let diabetes get in the way of my dreams," said Chris. "I performed at my best because I was able to keep my sugar levels under good control due to the tubeless OmniPod System. Before I used the OmniPod, I would have to take off my conventional pump with tubing during competitions because it would get caught in an opponent's kick; but disconnecting from my pump wasn't good for my blood sugar levels. Now that I'm free of the tubing, I can focus better on competing, while keeping my diabetes under good control."

In addition to Chris, other young athletes with diabetes are performing at the top of their sport, due in part to the OmniPod System. At the 2010 United States Junior Olympics, both Emily LeBert, age 12 of Lafayette, LA and Tony Maiolatesi, age 14 of Ocean Springs, MI, won gold medals in Tumbling for their respective gender and age groups (Level 9, 10). Both gymnasts followed up with additional gold medal wins, Emily in Trampoline and Tony in Double-Mini Trampoline. Tony also won the bronze medal in Trampoline, bringing his total number of national championship titles to nine. Most recently, Emily attended the Olympic Development Camp where she was one of eight girls selected to be a member of the U.S. National Team, which represents the U.S. in national and international competitions.

"We congratulate all of our young athletes who have the drive to reach such outstanding achievements and are proud of the role that the OmniPod System plays in their success," said Duane DeSisto, President and CEO of Insulet Corporation. "These talented OmniPod customers have tremendous determination, competing at the highest levels without letting diabetes stand in their way. Their hard work is an inspiration to all of us at Insulet and everyone in the diabetes community."
