CIDA/Media Advisory: Minister Carroll Attends Right To Play Day

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - June 2, 2005) - Minister of International Cooperation, Aileen Carroll, will participate in the Right to Play Day on Friday, June 3 in Ottawa. Minister Carroll will discuss the positive impact sport is having on children in developing countries through the work of Right to Play.

Special guests include Stephen Owen, Minister of Western Economic Diversification and Minister of State (Sport), and Johann Koss, President of Right to Play and four-time Olympic Gold Medallist, Speed Skating. Athletes Catriona Le May Doan, Beckie Scott, Curt Harnett and Benoit Huot will be at play with children from local schools.

Right to Play is an international humanitarian organization that uses sport and play to encourage the development of the world's most disadvantaged children and to make the world healthier and safer. Their programs are currently implemented in Africa, Asia and the Middle East.
