CIDA/Media Advisory: Young Canadian Artists Honoured at Butterfly Winner Ceremony

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - July 26, 2005) - The Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of International Cooperation, Paddy Torsney, on behalf of International Cooperation Minister Aileen Carroll, will announce the grand prize winners of this year's butterfly 208 contest. These young Canadians will travel to Tanzania as special butterly ambassadors, leaving Sunday, July 31, 2005.

Butterfly 208 - an annual contest led by the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) - is designed to celebrate the connection shared by youth in all 208 countries around the world, and seeks to engage and interest young people in international development and global issues.

Interviews with the butterfly 208 winners upon their return to Canada on Saturday, August 13, 2005, can be arranged through CIDA's Media Relations Office.
