Cigar Advisor Interviews Jon Huber of Crowned Heads Cigars

Podcast Discusses New Exclusive Four Kicks "Black Belt Buckle" Cigars, and More

EASTON, PA--(Marketwired - December 24, 2015) - John Huber, co-founder of Crowned Heads Cigars is not a tobacco blender. He wants to be clear about that right off the bat in the latest interview with CigarAdvisor.com editor Gary Korb. That aside, Mr. Huber is someone with a talent for knowing how great cigars are made, taste, and marketed. During the roughly 30-minute podcast, Huber tells how he and his partner, Mike Conder, formed the company, and talks about their highly-acclaimed cigars such as Las Calaveras, La Imperiosa, among others, including the new limited edition Four Kicks Black Belt Buckle cigars which are exclusive to Famous Smoke Shop.

"Jon is one of those cigar biz folks who keeps his eyes on the prize and his head in a very good place," says Korb. "I've known him since his days at CAO when he was in charge of special events. They were well planned and always offered something unique and exciting. You could say he and Mike have taken a similar path with Crowned Heads."

During the interview, Huber also talks about some of the master blenders they've had the good fortune to work with, including Don Pepin Garcia at My Father Cigars in Nicaraguan and Ernesto Perez-Carrillo's La Alianza factory in the Dominican Republic. (Perez-Carrillo blended the original Four Kicks cigars and new Black Belt Buckle line extension.)

During the interview, Huber also talks about where some of their creative influences come from, the methodology behind how Crowned Heads create and market their cigars, and how to blend a bestselling cigar out of a six-second drum beat.

"I think more than anything else, it's having the right ingredients, i.e., the right people at Crowned Heads," says Huber. "We're fortunate. We're a very small company, but we have a lot of creative people. We kind of liquefy everything and pour it all on the blender, and you get that mix of personalities, tastes, and ideas. It's not just one person saying, 'This is this, and this is this.' [As a team] we all approach things from different places, and by the time we all put our hands on it, it ends up in a whole different space -- a much better space, actually."
