Cineplex Entertainment Lifts the Curtains on the "Metropolitan Opera: Live in HD" at Select Canadian Theatres

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - Nov. 15, 2006) - Canadian opera fans get ready! On Friday November 17, Cineplex Entertainment (TSX:CGX.UN) will begin selling tickets to the hottest musicals in town: six live opera performances via satellite from New York City in High Definition at twenty-eight select theatres throughout Canada.

"We are very pleased to partner with the Metropolitan Opera to bring this outstanding musical series to Canada," said Ellis Jacob, President and CEO, Cineplex Entertainment. "The combination of the Met's superb musical productions combined with our giant screens, Dolby Digital Surround Sound, High Definition and the comfort of our theatres will make these events the next best thing to actually being there."

Bringing the opera to Canada, this unique and exciting opportunity offers fans the chance to watch performances in the comfort of their local theatre. Where else can Canadian opera fans see the world premiere production of Tan Dun's The First Emperor, featuring superstar tenor Placido Domingo as he delivers his vocally beautiful arias or Tchaikovsky's Eugene Onegin three act opera starring world famous soprano Renee Fleming?
