Cineplex Entertainment to Raise $300,000+ for Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation in 4th Annual Spotlight on the Cure Campaign

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - Oct. 3, 2005) - Cineplex Entertainment LP (formerly Cineplex Galaxy LP)(TSX:CGX.UN) is very pleased to announce the launch of the 4th annual Spotlight on the Cure campaign begins today. The signature campaign was created by Cineplex Entertainment specifically to raise funds for the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation amongst the company's theatre circuits across Canada. Over the past three years, Cineplex Entertainment employees and theatre guests have embraced the campaign raising more than $500,000 through a variety of in-theatre and online initiatives during the month of the October. This year's goal is to raise more than $300,000.

"Each year since the inception we have increased the amount of fundraising support generated from our theatres and we do this by enhancing and expanding the variety of initiatives we have created to raise money for the Foundation," said Pat Marshall, Vice President, Communications and Investor Relations for Cineplex Entertainment. "Seeing a movie at any Cineplex Odeon, Galaxy or Famous Players theatre during the month of October makes you a contributor to the cause as a portion of every movie ticket sold will be donated to the Foundation," Marshall said.

"We were extremely pleased that Claire Danes agreed to be the spokesperson for our Spotlight campaign Public Service Announcement (PSA)," said Marshall. The PSA will play before every film in all Cineplex Odeon, Galaxy and Famous Players cinemas across Canada during the month of October.

Each of the 130 Cineplex Entertainment theatres located across the country are selling gold-plated pink ribbon pins for $3.00 each with 100% of net proceeds going directly to the Foundation. Additionally, a special Spotlight Combo package was created and is available exclusively at Cineplex Odeon and Galaxy Cinema concession stands that will include: a regular-size popcorn in a specially created pink ribbon bag, a regular-size fountain drink and a package of limited edition "pink" M&M's chocolate candy. In Famous Players theatres, the combo will include a regular popcorn and bottle of Aquafina water. Best of all, $1.00 from every Spotlight Combo sold at any of these theatres will be donated to the Foundation.

This year's online auction features a wide variety of items including an autographed Avril Lavigne skateboard; a pair of pink sneakers from the movie Cinderella Story, autographed by Hillary Duff; a VIP Cineplex Entertainment Movie Card enabling the lucky bidder to free movies for a year at any of the Cineplex Entertainment theatres across the country; a pair of Vancouver Canuck hockey tickets and a variety of movie memorabilia, DVD libraries, a digital camera, and so much more. "We really want to encourage people to visit our theatres during the month of October to help raise money for this very worthwhile cause," said Pat Marshall. "Theatre guests will enjoy some great movies and at the same time support the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation" she said.

"The Spotlight on the Cure campaign has made a significant impact by increasing the amount of funds available to address important breast cancer research and awareness programs," says Leslie Denier, Chair, National Board, Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation. "It is through the generosity of community-minded partners like Cineplex Entertainment that we are able to make a difference in the lives of Canadians touched by breast cancer."
