CIO/CTOs Top List of IT Professionals With the Highest Salaries in 2014 According to Mondo

32% of Firms Plan to Increase IT Budget in 2014


NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwired - Jul 15, 2014) - Mondo (www.mondo.com), a leading technology and digital marketing resourcing provider, announced the findings of its annual technology salary guide, reporting that CIOs and CTOs have the highest salaries in 2014 ($150,000-$230,000). The report also revealed that 32% of hiring managers plan to increase their IT budgets in the next 12-18 months.

According to Mondo's research, beyond the CIO/CTO positions, the technology jobs with the highest salaries in 2014, include:

  • Chief Security Officer ($135,000-$200,000)
  • Augmented Reality Consultant ($70,000-$175,000)
  • Application Architect ($130,000-$170,000)
  • Scala Developer ($115,000-$170,000)

Other top-salaried positions include:

  • Java/J2EE Developer ($95,000-$165,000)
  • VP, Engineering (($120,000-$165,000)
  • VP, Information Technology ($130,000-$165,000)
  • Salesforce Developer ($99,000-$160,000)
  • Director, PMO ($110,000-$160,000)
  • Project Manager ($105,000-$160,000)

(Note: The salary ranges show regional differences in salaries, with NYC/San Francisco on the high end and Florida/Dallas on the low end.)

The "hot" positions in highest demand this year are for professionals in the Big Data/Cloud arena, with Hadoop and Netezza developers coming out on top; up 28% from 2013, according to the Mondo report. In addition, DevOps Analysts and Engineers as well as Business Intelligence professionals are in high demand and commanding some of the top salaries. Mondo's report also depicts a large increase in the need for Application Architects. Industries with the highest demand for professionals with this skill set were media, finance, and healthcare.

Mondo also reported the contractor hiring trend for technology positions will continue, with 48% of hiring managers indicating that they plan to hire more contract workers, rather than permanent staff, over the next 12-18 months.
