CIO Executive Council and CIO Magazine Launch Women in IT Workshop Series on Leading With Impact

Provides Relevant Research to Prepare Women to Take Calculated Risks Creating Impactful Business Value

FRAMINGHAM, MA--(Marketwire - Apr 14, 2011) - IDG's CIO Executive Council, a peer advisory community of over 750 global enterprises comprised of more than 1,400 information technology (IT) leaders, in conjunction with sister company CIO magazine, announces a multi-city workshop series, focused on advancing female executives in the male-dominated profession of IT. The advice stems directly from the Council's Executive Women in IT (EWIT) community of practice, formed in 2008, and comprised of over 200 women, dedicated to advancing the profession of information technology and mentoring women.

The workshops will focus on the following topics outlined by the community at large:

  • Gaining a broad view of business
  • Being a trail blazer and risk taker
  • Identifying the impact of your personal life on your career journey

"The Executive Women in IT community looks for ways throughout the year to encourage members to learn from each other and forge judiciously into the challenges female senior IT executives face day-to-day. Based on community feedback from our 2010 world tour, this workshop expands the passion our members have to advance the IT profession and the women within it," states Pam Stenson, SVP and GM of the CIO Executive Council, and chair of the EWIT community of practice.

Pamela Rucker, President, The Rucker Group and co-chair of the Council's Executive Women in IT community of practice will lead the program providing background to the Council's Top 10 Most Important Pieces of Advice for Executive Women in IT, created by female senior IT executives around the world to document their most important advice to women at all stages of their career.

"We want women to develop strategies that showcase their abilities and help them succeed as executives regardless of the environments they face at work or at home. Through interactive dialogue and group activities we will share real life scenarios and success stories with our attendees. We will also outline executable strategies they can immediately apply to their current business role to further their own career aspirations," said Rucker.

The workshop series features prominent speakers including:

  • Mary Finlay, Professor, Simmons School of Management, former Deputy CIO, Partners HealthCare Systems and former CIO at Brigham and Women's Hospital
  • Leslie Jones, Senior Vice President and CIO, Motorola
  • Kris Singleton, Vice President & CIO, Kimpton Hotel & Restaurant Group, Inc.
  • Karen Quintos, CMO, Dell
  • Angela Yochem, Corporate IT Executive and Divisional CIO, Dell
  • Rhonda Gass, Vice President, IT Strategy, Technology and Governance, Dell
